After a healthy pregnancy with no complications, the moment I had been waiting for finally arrived. I would finally get to meet Nathaniel for the first time.
Little did I know that my world was about to be turned upside down with these 3 words: Peroxisome biogenesis disorders. The prognostic was not favorable and my son’s life would be short lived. This gene mutation impacted the structure of his cells and prevented proper functioning of his metabolism. In other words his body was failing him.
Nathaniel spent 3 months in between the NICU and the palliative center. Despite the prognosis, he lived longer than expected and he left us on July 7th 2018. During the 3 months of his life, Nathaniel touched so many people. He is held in many hearts and is deeply missed.
I will always be grateful for having him come into our lives. He blessed me in so many ways, I will cherish our moments forever. I made this blog to share my experience and encourage others going through difficult situations. I hope my journey to healing and self discovering inspires you.
